The established process that Apple provides for an entity using an outside developer to build their apps is to create an Apple developer account for an "Organization". When this is properly set up, a Publisher can invite Odeum into their account with full privileges to create, sign, and distribute apps for that account.

We require all Publishers to establish "Organization" developer accounts with Apple. This is the supported, and proper, way of hiring an outside developer to publish on your behalf.

Requirements for Conversion

Apple will not convert your account from Individual to Organization unless you meet a few requirements. If you are a sole proprietor, you will have a few extra hoops to get through, but it can be done.

D-U-N-S Number

You must have a D‑U‑N‑S Number so that Apple can verify your organization’s identity and legal entity status. If you do not already have a DUNS number, we suggest visiting https://www.dnb.com and using the chatbot in the lower corner to start an inquiry. We also highly recommend just giving Dun & Bradstreet a call at their toll free number (844) 237-5820.

It may take a few days to receive your DUNS number.

Note: If you are a sole proprietor, you can still acquire a DUNS number.

Request Conversion From Apple

Once you have a DUNS number, you will need to request the conversion from Apple. If you are a legal entity, such as a Corporation or LLC, this process should be easy. (see below if you are a Sole Proprietor.) We recommend clicking the link below and completing the form:

It may take a few days for Apple to convert your account.

For Sole Proprietors

As a sole proprietor, your DUNS number has a special type and you will likely need additional support from Apple to complete the conversion. We strongly recommend that you call Apple Developer support. Its actually super fast and helpful. https://developer.apple.com/contact/topic/select - click on "Membership and Account" and then click "Other Membership and Account Questions" and use the phone option.

Note: We have also seen that Sole Proprietors can have trouble when completing Apple's required tax information after conversion. According to our contacts at Apple Developer Support, this is a known part of the workflow that requires assistance from Apple Finance. Please use this link: https://developer.apple.com/contact/finance/ and use the subject "Tax and Banking Setup" to submit details of your problem.

Reset Odeum's Permissions

After you have completed the conversion process, we will need you to reset Odeum's permissions in your developer account. Please visit the Users & Access section of App Store Connect and modify our permissions to have the "Access to Certificates, Identifiers & Profiles" permission.
