Odeum distributes apps for you under your company name. This is an added benefit for a completely branded experience. In that way, your app will appear in Google Play with your name and no mention of Odeum.

In order to accomplish this, you will need to establish your own account through the Google Play Developer Program. Here are the steps:

  • Create your Google Play Developer Program account

  • Create your Google Payments Profile

  • Invite Odeum

  • Create and send us API Keys

Step 1: Create your Google Play Developer Program Account

Before You Begin

Creating a Google Play Developer account requires that you have a traditional Google account available. Make sure you have created a Google account (https://accounts.google.com/SignUp).

Enroll in the Program

1) Choose the applicable Account Type "Yourself or Organization" and click "GET STARTED."

Very important note - Your Account Type must match across all areas of the Google Play platform. Please make the same selection anytime you are prompted. If this is not done, your app will be rejected and you will have to create a new account.

2) Follow the prompts to fill out the information for:

  • Your Business

  • About You

  • Your Developer Account

*You will need to verify both your email and contact number to progress past this step.

3) Fill out the Apps section. Under "Earning money on Google Play" select "YES" > "IN-APP PURCHASES."

4) Agree to the Terms.

5) Click "CREATE ACCOUNT AND PAY" and complete your purchase.

*The program currently has a Registration Fee of $25. The program must be maintained throughout the life of your Odeum channel.

6) Once your Developer account is created click, "GO TO PLAY CONSOLE."

Step 2: Create your Google Payments Profile

In the Google Play Console, we need you to create a Google Payments Profile. Please go to the Google Play Console under Setup > Payments Profile > Create Payments Profile > Fill out all of the required fields and press submit.

Very important note - Your Account Type must match across all areas of the Google Play platform. Please make the same selection anytime you are prompted. If this is not done, your app will be rejected and you will have to create a new account.

  • If you set up your Developer account as "Yourself" your Payment Profile also needs to be set up as "Yourself/Personal."

  • If you set up your Developer account as Organization your Payment Profile also needs to be set as "Organization."

You will need to then Verify your identity > Upload one of the required documents by clicking "BEGIN VERIFICATION" and following the instructions. This process can take up to 2 business days, so we recommend starting right away.

Step 3: Invite Odeum

From the Google Play Console (https://play.google.com/apps/publish), go to Settings > Users and Permissions, and click the "INVITE NEW USER" button.

Invite appmanager@odeum.io with the "Administrator" role:

Once Odeum has been able to confirm all steps have been taken, your status will change to "Active" in the Odeum Dashboard, and the development of your apps can begin!

Step 4: Create and send us a Google Play API Key

Follow the instructions in this article:

Ongoing: Needs Attention

From time to time, Google will update its Terms & Conditions. When this happens, Odeum may be blocked from managing the app and issuing new versions, etc. We will notify you, but so will Google. When this happens you will need to log into the Google Play Console and complete the necessary actions.
