You can embed your Odeum videos on external websites or blogs.

Limitations of Odeum Embeds

Because Odeum is made for subscription-based video and some of your video content is protected behind a login, when you embed videos from Odeum onto other sites, there are some things to consider.

Embedded Odeum videos do operate similarly to YouTube or Vimeo embeds with some very important differences:

  • Free videos:

Videos that have been placed in playlists marked "Available w/o Subscription" play for free for 10-15 seconds. The viewer is then prompted to continue watching on your Odeum website.

  • Protected videos:

If a viewer is signed in to your Odeum website - these play inline (The video plays right where you have it embedded.)

If a viewer is NOT signed in to your Odeum website - these link directly to the video on your Odeum website, so the user can subscribe or sign in to watch.

How to use the Embed Video feature

On your Odeum Dashboard, visit the Edit Video section and select the Embed Video tab.

Copy the Embed code for either Responsive or a Fixed Dimension. Insert it into your external website.

  • Responsive Embed - this player will stretch or compress to fill the space it is placed in.

  • Fixed Dimension Embed - This player has a fixed width and height (which can be modified in the code itself as needed.

Note: Odeum's embeds are all based on iframe's. This is because of the desired outcome where a signed-in user can watch this video while embedded on an external website.
