*Please do not start on this step until your Sender Email address is fully set-up on the Email Configuration section of your Odeum Dashboard. Please refer to this help article for more information.

What is the Return-Path?

The Return-Path is the address where bounces and other email feedback are sent. A custom Return-Path helps tie your email reputation with your domain. If you have a DMARC policy for your domain, a custom Return-Path that aligns with your domain achieves SPF alignment.

How to set a custom Return-Path

For your Return-Path domain, you need to create a CNAME record in DNS that points to pm.mtasv.net.

Hostname and Target are both found in the Email Configuration page of your Odeum Dashboard.

How to set a custom Return-Path in the most common DNS Providers

GoDaddy

  1. Head to the Domain Management page and add a new record. Select CNAME for the type.

  2. For the Name, enter in the Hostname.

  3. For the “Points to” field in GoDaddy, enter the Target pm.mtasv.net.

  4. Click Save and then save the changes you made to your DNS records.

Cloudflare

  1. From the dropdown select CNAME. For the Name, copy the Hostname shown for the Return-Path record

  2. Then, populate the Domain name field with the Target pm.mtasv.net.

  3. Before selecting “Add Record”, click on the orange cloud to disable Cloudflare on the CNAME record as sometimes it can get in the way of us being able to verify your Return-Path record.

  1. Click DNS Records tab.

  3. Add the CNAME record. For the Type, select CNAME from the drop-down.

  4. You can generally leave the TTL as it is.

  5. In the Name field, enter the Hostname for the Return-Path record.

  6. In the Hostname field enter the Target pm.mtasv.net.

  7. Click Create.

Note that you’ll want to put a dot (.) at the end of the “pm.mtasv.net” value
